Sarah Manerva Lawrence.

was supposedly born October 6, 1849. She supposedly died January 21, 1896.

She married (1) Lemuel Arkley Manire March 14, 1870 in Bedford County, Tennessee. Lemuel was born December 8, 1849 in Bedford County, Tennessee. He died in 1881 in Obion County, Tennessee.

They had the following children:
Luella Manire was born about 1872 (This could be Amy)
Amy/Annie Manire 1873 - 1924
James Manire  (Could be James Lemuel Manire 1875 - 1939)
Robert Manire was born about 1879.

Sarah also married (2) Isaac Houston Manire May 13, 1884, 3 years after his brother died. Isaac was born November 24, 1851 in Bedford County, Tennessee. He died December 1, 1892 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.

Isaac was counted on the 1880 census in Curtail, Hopkins County, Kentucky as Isaac Houston Manire at the age of 28 years old and a student.

They had the following children:
Dewitt (Derist) Manire was born January 11, 1886 in Madisonville, Hopkins County, Kentucky. He died April 19, 1909.

Okay here's what I know from info I have and this census. Amy Minter is Amy/Annie Manire who married William Elisha Minter and is daughter of Sarah and Lemuel Arkley Manire.

Robert Manier is son of Sarah and Lemuel Arkley Manire and Amy's brother.

Derist (Dewitt) Manier is son of Sarah and Isaac Houston Manire and half-brother to Amy and Robert.

Samuel and George Minter are the sons of Amy Manire and William Elisha Minter.

So here's the puzzle as far as I can see: Is the Sallie on the 1900 census Sarah M. Lawrence? Or is Sallie someone Hobbs married after Sarah died but continued to help and raise her children? If Sallie M. Is Sarah M. then the birthdate and age is way off. Supposedly she was born in 1849 not 1860. Also supposedly Sarah M. died in 1896. That would mean she's not the Sallie on the census right? Unless she didn't die in 1896... Also if Sallie is Sarah then what happened with the number of children listed on the census? It says she only had 3 children and 3 lived. But according to both census she had at least 4 children. Did James Manire die before the 1900 census? or is he James Lemuel Manire born in 1875 and died in 1939? Wouldn't the number of children at least be 4? Did they get it wrong? or do I have it wrong?

Another question I have is in the 1880 Census is Luella Manier also known as Amy/Annie Manire? Are they the same person or different? The dates for birth are close enough to be the same person.
